Actually, although he did well as an actor, Ernest is not Earnest. Know-what-I-mean? He crops up all over the place in pics from the 50s and 60s (eg. The Dirty Dozen), and was Ethel Merman's husband (one of his five marriages). Man, it must have been noisey in that house.

btw, his real name is Ermes Effron Borgnino (have fun with THAT, Wil), b. 1917. He's still actin', believe it or not. Good for him.

Oh ya, I almost forgot, he played a key role in "From here to eternity". I think that was his biggest role.

In Vancouver, you might like the Raincity Grill on Denman- they have a great selection on Pacific NW wines and looks out over English Bay. I think it's relatively close to a Shopper's Drug Mart, just in case. ;-)
