Hey you guys!
(Was it Sloth, or Electric Company? I quote, you decide.)
I'm going to San Francisco tomorrow morning to tape an episode of Call For Help, and also to appear on The Screen Savers. TSS will be live, CFH will air at some undisclosed time in the Mysterious Future.
So if you're interested in seeing my double chin in all its glory, check your local listings and do your thing.
I will probably take lots of cameraphone pictures, and maybe an audioblog or two while I'm up there, too.

Electric Company!

Actually, I remember *Grover* saying that on Sesame Street a few times. Generally when he was wearing the cape and helmet. ;)

I do not have the channels to watch you on. How ever, I do hope and believe that you will RAWK.
Posted by: angry penguin | April 20, 2004 10:42 PM
Sloth! although....you gave me pause for a moment. But then I couldn't remember WHAT Electric Company lady always yelled, and Sloth was clear as a bell in my head. So. Sloth! Sloth love Chunk!

Wil! You GOONIE! :)
Posted by: Morgain | April 20, 2004 10:52 PM
Electric Company the later used by mother to wake my sister and I up. Now that's a powerful memory. Get it? Electric? Powerful? Eh, nevermind...
Posted by: Magus | April 20, 2004 11:15 PM
I for one look forward to it. Viva la double chin!

Somebody tape all these TV shows and send them to us poor bums in the UK so we don't feel so left out.
Posted by: Griff | April 20, 2004 11:34 PM
Sloth all the way, baby!
Posted by: Placebo Effect | April 21, 2004 12:28 AM
Hooray for your double chin!
And I vote for Sloth -- I gotta tell ya, between Goonies and Stand By Me, my childhood crush chest was all full up.

Electric Company Definately!
I just wanted to say have a good time and good luck!

You are SO LUCKY. San Francisco is the best city in the world. I went to college not too far from "the city" and I miss it (both the school and the city)! Can I go too? I'm little, I fit in most luggage! Have lots of fun, you've earned it. :)
Oooh oooh and if you go by the MOMA, send us a pic of the Sky sign. I love that thing! :)
Posted by: Erin | April 21, 2004 01:18 AM
This is totally presumptuous of me, and rather embarassing to boot, but let's say I happen to be at the studio, would it be okay for me to ask for a photograph?
Actually, I'd probably be too shy to do it. But, y'know, just in case...?

you should register at mobog.com and then we could see your cameraphone pics as you take them.

HEY YOU GUYS!
We're gonna turn it on... We're gonna bring you the power...
We're gonna light up the night with a light as bright as the brightest day...
We're gonna turn it on... We're gonna bring you the power...
(something) Comin' down the lines, through the courtesy... Of the Electric Company!
I don't remember (Super) Grover ever yelling that on Sesame Street.
Posted by: Kit | April 21, 2004 05:27 AM
I seem to remember Super Grover yelling it on Sesame Street, but I also seem to remember it being a reference to the Electric Company.
Posted by: joshua neff | April 21, 2004 05:29 AM
With all due respect to Goonies, it's definitely more evocative of Electric Company.
Posted by: Craig Steffen | April 21, 2004 05:37 AM
*sigh*
I gave up digital cable last year to cut costs.
Posted by: John B | April 21, 2004 05:48 AM
Sloth. I head Sloth when I read that. Mostly because it's been 20 years since I watched the Electric Company and not even 20 days since my last viewing of the Goonies.

You should consider using Blojsom. It is an open source, java based, blog software that already allows picture posts and will offer remote posts via email any day now!

Wil...you're supposed to let me know sooner that you're coming up. I can't get to SF on such short notice! Now I can't fangirl today.

You in SF today...me stuck at an Earth Day event in San Jose. :( (I "volunteered" to work a booth for my non-profit.)
You've got to make a longer trip sometime; heck, Great America's got a new water park the boys would probably like, or you can even take them to the Intel Museum so they can see how it all began...
Enjoy the trip.

I can't seem to catch any of your stuff up here in BC; it doesn't seem to appear on any of the non-subscription channels. Bummer.
Posted by: synchronicity | April 21, 2004 09:19 AM
By what name shall we refer to your double chin? :-) Have fun on the show!
Posted by: Tim | April 21, 2004 09:57 AM
Being a redhead, I always fancied myself like Andie, but looking back, I was definitely more a combination of Mikey and Stef.
Regardless, my own double chin quivers in anticipation of seeing yours on TV.

Wil-
Was reading through your archives, just wanted to say thanks, and as a fan I'm really proud of you. I don't know, it just seems like from 2001 to now you took a huge, leaping step back from the brink of something dark and forboding. Maybe it's just me and my impression, but there was a moment where I felt really greatful that you were around, and relieved, I guess, that professionally/personally/grammatically, you're doing ok. Alot of people are really, really glad you're here. And I thought someone should tell you, in case it hadn't been said in a while. You boldly rock what no one has rocked before. Thanks for being someone we, a group of fan-types, like/admire/respect. Stuff like that. Later.

I say the correct answer is:
Wil quoting Sloth quoting The Electric Company.
There. All the bases are covered.
Does Pilch remind anyone of Spudnuts?

The Electric Company! My favorite part of that show was "The Adventures of Letterman" who always happened to have the correct letter on his chest with which to save the day.
I just saw Goonies for the first time last year when I was attempting to watch Sean Astin's filmography. I know, I have been under a rock for a long time! I really liked Goonies, but I don't own it yet.
Posted by: Jessica | April 21, 2004 12:17 PM

Grover. No doubt about it.
Wil, I think you'd enjoy this Neal Stephenson interview over on Salon:
http://www.salon.com/books/int/2004/04/21/stephenson/index.html
On the last page he talks about the writing process and it sounds like some of the things you have talked about. Plus, it is just a cool interview. Cheers.

I used to LOVE Rita Moreno when I was a kid. Then I saw The Postman Always Rings Twice with Jack Nicholson. The scene at the end of the movie where Rita, playing a hooker, "helps" Jack get, well, you know. Totally blew my mind./lying in fetal position sucking thumb
Posted by: Mike Bailey | April 21, 2004 03:08 PM
Sloth's voice was definitely going in my head the second I read that quote!
Goonies ROCK!

So, having recently seen Toy Soldiers and Deep Core, it was sort of refreshing to see you not dying a horrible death.
What double chin? Don't be silly.
Posted by: Sophie | April 21, 2004 06:50 PM
I vote Sloth! Love Goonies. I know I watched Electric Company growing up but I don't remember any of it.
FYI - Finally got to picking up Dancing Barefoot. Loved reading it! I enjoy the site but didn't realize how moved I would be with the stories. Very descriptive.
Posted by: Sarah | April 22, 2004 08:24 AM
Electric Company, although I was too young to watch the original episodes lol. Man that show was trippy...
Posted by: Catrina | April 22, 2004 03:34 PM
