Not surprisingly, there were a ton of ads for GTA:SA during the season premier of Viva La Bam on MTV Sunday night. I was an absolute GTA3 addict, the only thing I didn't finish was the ambulance mission. Vice City came out just after my daughter was born, so I never got very far into it. I think I had just burned myself out on the whole concept with GTA3.

I wasn't planning on getting GTA:SA, but I might have to check it out now. I have to admit that the ads made it look awful damn good.

After reading this, and realizing that GTA:SA was actually out today, I rushed over to Best Buy. I grabbed the 6th to last copy (they started 2 hours earlier with about 200).

angie K, i had similiar complaints about the PS2 controllers... try the Logitech "Extreme Action" controller, they're much more comfortable for larger hands. I've only seen the wireless models in stores, but a plain wired version (for $20 cheaper) is on walmart.com.

note that the analog sticks may go flaky on you, i had my first one go wonky after only four months... but the grip is MUCH more comfortable.

That's really cool that you're a voice on GTA! I've never really played the game myself since I suck at those kinds of games, but I have listened to the radio portion. My boyfriend downloaded an mp3 of a whole hour's worth of Lazlow's talk show segments, complete with commercials, and our most favorite one is when Lazlow interviews this totally gay kung fu wannabe vegan dork with a lisp, and Lazlo's making fun of him the whole time since the guy is obviously full of shit and doesn't know a thing about kung fu. My boyfriend and I are in tears every time we play that segment.

I hope my boyfriend buys the game so I can get to hear you on it! Cheers!

Let me tell you what happened yesterday, after I purchased GTA:SA. I was looking through the manual, looking for famous names littered through the cast(once I heard Sam Jackson in the intro sequence) And I spotted a few, like James Woods in there. But, as I flipped through the rest, and came upon the WCTR advert, I saw Wil Wheaton as Rich Burns.

And that amazed me more than any of the other names. All I could think was "Must tune in to WCTR to hear Wil do the news!"

We got the game at noon on Tuesday, being big GTA fans. The first thing I did was read through all the credits of voice actors and I was thrilled to see your name! I listened to the station until I heard you (and I started just after the news so I had to listen to it all). Great work Wil!

re: someone commented on them only crediting him w/ being a caller- I've actually caught lots of little mistakes like that in the game (watching my bf play mostly) dialogue that doesn't match up with the subtitles, etc. I think they were just really rushing at the end, and not everything got out perfectly. With such an anticipated game, you can't really push back the release date if anything goes wrong at the end, you just hae to cope and fix it and hope all the other little details go together as best you can. I have a friend who works for another gaming company at at the end things are often just right down to the wire and super crazy with everyone putting in overtime. Someone probably just used an old (or, which was most current then) sheet that had wil penciled in as a caller- just as someone probably put in earlier versions of what the characters were going to say in the little subtitle stuff at the bottom. Then at the end they didn't have enough time to double check.

Awesome Wil. I was already planning to get the game, just because I love the series. This is the icing on the cake. I've heard that GTA: SA revenues are expected to be on par with major movie revenues. Who knows, maybe you can be one of the stars of this new, exploding medium.

That's really cool. Unfortunately, GTA San Andreas doesn't live up to all the hype. Everyone thought it would be soo amazing, and they messed with the original formula that worked so well and now its just a poorly made RPG. They shouldn't have tried to make it so real, they should've just kept the old style. Not worth the money.
