brilliant D&D advert
I hope the MMORPG Nerds have a better sense of humor than the Star Wars Nerds, because this is fucking brilliant.

Haha, that's great!
What about Dungeons and Dragons Online, the mmorpg that's coming out soon?

Thats awesome, so many kids dismiss or down right abhor things from their parents era (or even earlier "older" /wince). It's amazing how deeply and richly a person can feel for another human being, esp the short ones. Not to mention the suprize and bone deep sentiment/affection/fondness/tenderwarmfuzzies that hit you when you realize you've rubbed off on them and you can be proud of it.
You and Anne are pretty amazing parents. I don't remember exactly when it was that parental apptitude became my leading criterion for likeing and respecting people. It probably has to do with growing up as a babysitter and working in afterschool programs and schools for a decade.
Nice story Wil :)

I'll try "Spells that should not be cast in a basement with brick walls" for $800, Alex.

Yeah, I saw this today, and thought it was frickin' brilliant. Old school tabletop gaming rules! I love the tag line too -- Get Together. Roll Some Dice. Have Fun.

I was a D&D freak way back in the day, and guess what my characters name was?
Dumbass!
I just couldn't see myself playing it as Kyramus, Mordax, Takyris, or Frodo.

love it...though they left the part out about throwing dice at the DM

That is funny!
Reminds me of when I was growing up...my sister used to try to pick on my friends and I by asking if we were "playing in caves" again.

LOL... Nice

Good one.
OT, Wil did you see Alias last night? WTF?!?

Thanks, Wil, I'll pass it on to the ChimaeraCon gang.

Ah, that makes me all nostalgic.
At Wizards of the Coast, back when Magic: The Gathering was new, and no one (except Peter A.) dreamed that we would one day buy out TSR, the unofficial company slogan was:
"Wizards of the Coast - we'll help you pass the time until you die"
(Later, of course, we had to change it to something lame, like "Wizards of the Coast: Making Games as big as the movies!")
On the lines of this ad, there was once a GenCon ad which proclaimed, "No rest for your wrist!" ;P

We have a game going on tonight at our place though I'm stuck working at the theater till 9. This campaign is going on a year and a half. We've been stuck in the same castle that long. We try to play once a month but with everyone's work schedules its so hard. We've been playing Magic when only a couple of us show up. I'm going to print out that pic and bring it home with me for the gang. Thanks Wil!

That's a funny ad. They're the ones that catch my attention the most. In this serious world we live in, a spot of real humor is always welcome!
Ahhhh, the days in Steve's basement playing D&D and waiting for glimpses of his flirty sister...and why was it so much more fun to be evil-good?

That's great. Have you seen the "D&D for Dummies" commercial on G4? (I watch "Call For Help" now that it's back in the States). Quite humorous.

MWAH! LOVED it. I have been playing D&D for 20+ years. Very Funny ad. Hilarious...

wow. D&D takes me right back. Haven't played a game of that for ten years. Pretty cool D&D are coming out with their own mmorpg. I'd have figured they'd have done it a long time ago. But what do I know?
Posted by: xanadian | October 5, 2005 09:53 AM
that's hysterical!
i just got served my "old" papers the other day. some dude on a blog was talking about how he was gonna play some "old skool rpgs" (his words).
i'm thinking paper and dice... turns out he was talking playstation 1 ....
LOL
