live action recreation of the intro the the simpsons

This is beyond cool. Follow this link to You Tube if the embedded player thingy doesn't work. I removed the embedded player thingy because it was slowing the load time of the page. The video is still really cool, though.

Update - I'm just going to add a two more cool things here which don't fit anywhere else, but go nicely together with the video above:

This guy bought an old Superman pinball machine, customized it, and it was reborn as a Futurama pinball machine, complete with spinning Slurm can. Awesome.

At boingboing, Cory linked to this ten minute video of Disneyland's Main Street USA, right after it opened in 1956. Very, very cool.

That is the coolest thing i've seen in awhile...But please no live-action SIMPSONS movie!

OMG that's freakin hawsome!!!

/me cross posts

Too bad it's set in England for that Marge and Maggie scene or it would be amazing!

And maybe a live-action SIMPSONS movie wouldn't be too bad. But it would have to be a short.

Greetings from Kuwait! That Simpsons recreation was hilarious! This is the first time I comment on your blog... It is so entertaining! I am new to the blogging world! (My blog is at miscellaneousraine.blogspot.com.)

Hee. It even had Homer butt crack!!

And yet, I'd eat things for money...

Amended...I'd eat SOME things for money...not ALL things. Perverts.

Ey Caramba

Ok, that rocks.

Loved Just a Geek audio book. :)

Hil-air-ee-ess!

Had no idea you had a blog, iz bookmarked, shall read often.

Hahahahhahahahahhahahahhahah!

ROFLMAO! I am so posting this in myspace and LJ. Good lord. It's 11:13 on a Saturday night. That would sound bad - but I'm taking a break from cleaning up after a party. What kind of party ends before 11pm?

Mine.

Thanks for posting that link. Sheer brilliance!

That was pretty good! I wonder why they made it...perhaps a promo?

pretty cool, but

1) Why did they put a bass clarinet neck and mouthpiece on the tenor sax? (Perhaps to make it look slightly more like the cartoon??)

2) Why didn't they "flip the negative" for the driving scene? (What do they call that in the digital video domain--mirror image filter?)

3) It seems to be a 16:9 clip squeezed into a 4:3 frame. (For example, the screen on the TV in front of the couch is virtually square.) Is this on purpose?

Wil, I found your blog through a friend of mine who is a regular reader of yours. I must say that you're looking good! I used to have the biggest crush on you years ago! *LOL* I remember having posters from those teen magazines hanging all over my room! Oh, the good ol' days! Have a great day!

@bassclar

They have to work with what they got!

I think it was probably filmed in England. So that explains your driving scene.

And the whole thing was about looking like the original. So that answers your other questions ;)

Geez.
Disneyland: The WASPiest place on Earth.

starshine diva: I wasn't wondering why they were driving on the left side of the road, but why they didn't "flip the negative" in the editing room to make it appear as if they were driving on the right.

And are you suggesting that they had a tenor saxophone without a neck, so they happened to use a bass clarinet neck they had laying around instead? I suppose it is possible, but it doesn't seem very likely.
