Having just gotten out of the hospital, I can agree that being sick sucks.

Of course, a sinus infection and having a necessary internal organ on the verge of exploding are slightly different.

Still, I have an abundance of good will 'get better' wishes to share.

Which also reminds me that for a birthday and get well soon present, my friend promised me a visit from Spike from Buffy. Then he told me 'He was a bit pricey, so I'll just get you Wil Wheaton instead'. Which of course prompted me to state that it was all cool, we could all sit around and well WWDN stories and my spouse would have no clue what we were blathering on about.

Of course, if Spike were here, it'd be the same thing, only Buffy.

*laugh* X-Men *did* rock (it is the only movie I've ever gone to where legions of people exited saying, "It didn't suck!" and meant that as enormously high praise), and I'm a terrible heathen, but I really didn't hate Jar-Jar that much. I'm convinced it's because I didn't see the Star Wars movies until I was more or less an adult and I don't have these glorious shining memories of the movies from when I was a kid. I really thought PM was a perfectly fine Star Wars movie. (I did say I was a heathen.)

I'm trying not to have too high hopes for Spider-Man. I'd rather be surprised like I with X-Men. ('course, I'm still going to opening night like a slavering fanboy. er. girl.)

Sinus infections bite. I had one last week and the right side of my face felt like it had been run over by a tractor (I'm a Kansan). At one point, one side of my lip swelled up. I look like a cock-eyed Angelina Jolie. If only both my lips would have swelled...I'd have been a hottie...

Wil, Wil, Wil, Wil...I am very ashamed. You should not have bought antibiotics. It's merely a quick fix at the cost of your immune system. Plus doctors know its not really needed but they figure people will buy it anyways and any excuse to make a buck. If it's not life and death you should let your body heal itself! But if you need to be in top shape for work then yes take them and heal. But if I were you I would just do as little work as possible and the rest of the time wear three layers of clothes, drink lots of tea, and sleep a lot. It might sound cliche but if you don't push yourself, your body will rejuvenate quicker.

I love Spiderman, but I am afraid that the movie might suck, too, because I hold the firm belief that the amount of promotion for a film is directly proportionate to the level of suckage. Still, I will probably see it sometime next week.

I'd definitely like to see a WWDN Geocaching team. I got the same idea you did when I saw the link you posted yesterday. I just listed a whole bunch of Minidisc, Gameboy and PDA equipment on Ebay to make the money to buy myself a GPS. I was hoping my dad would let me borrow his since I'm going to visit him next weekend, but his cost around $700 and he said there was no way in hell I was traipsing around the woods with it.

I have a positive outlook towards Spider-man. I should, I bought my ticket yesterday. From what I've seen so far it looks like it will be fantastic. Not to mention the talent involved (Maguire, Dunst, Dafoe) are better than average. I personally see Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker, I think he'll do a great job.

Episode II should be better than Ep. I because Lucas smartened up and made some drastic changes like cutting back on merchandising and marketing, almost eliminating Jar Jar (Jar Jar does something pivotal in this one in his short role, but I'm not gonna ruin it for you like it was ruined for me)and hiring a co-writer to reign him in and strengthen the script.

I haven't let myself get overexcited about any movie ever since I was subjected to Star Trek V,"the quest for god"(or a miracle to save this wreck) Man, that was so bad I couldn't watch an episode of TOS for at least two years! Good thing TNG was on the air, or I would have had a Trekless existence from that point on.

It's not really the same, Natalie Portman in Episode 1 and Kirsten Dunst in Spiderman. Natalie Portman was always seen wearing layer upon layer upon layer of clothing. Kirsten wears a fairly flimsy shirt and gets soaking wet.

Episode 1 was definitely a gyp.

Antibiotics bad? You've got to be kidding me. Last year around this time I was laying in ICU with double pneumonia and blood poisoning because my doctor didn't want to prescribe antibiotics earlier in the week when I saw him for my cough. By the time I came back to to the doctor I was dehydrated as well. 5 days of double arm IV antibiotics, cathethers, forced oxygen, and $58,000 I endured for the silly notion that anti biotics are bad.

If you get sick, it is best to fix it before it gets bad. Don't get antibiotics for every little scrape, but use them correctly for infection and there is no problem.

Who out there with a career and young kids is in top physical shape? Be sensible, not fanatical.

Wil...Don't you think it's damn hypoctritical to have anti-corporate books on your front page and have them link to amazon? Amazon is just an overpriced, sorry excuse for an online store, not to mention their history of employee abuse. Don't bother rolling your eyes or blowing this off - I'm not asking you to give all your money to chairty, only to google the items you recommend and let some smaller online store get some traffic and business from your so-called leftleaning site. Just call it "wil's online store of the week" or something. It's easy to blow this off, but you really should consider it.

I hated Episode 1, Upset me so much I did walk out on that movie! I will not see Episode 2 unless it is for free, but of course my husband will go see it because he has to hear the musical score and he has to know where the cues on the album fit into.:) He will drag me to see Spiderman soon and I hope it is cool but I have a funny sort of feeling so we will see.

I just got a Garmin Etrex Vista last week and have gotten 15 finds so far. I found this guy online that got me a copy of the Mapsource software,(Metroguide USA) for a good price. Now that software runs around $178. I am pretty happy about that. Saved some serious coin there. Wil, if you're looking for a good price on a GPS, let me know. Spider-Man was pretty good. The only bad thing wasn't part of the movie, it was the assholes sitting behind us and talking about where they were going to go eat after the movie. I turned around and said, "Can you talk about this later?" and they just kept talking. Bitches.

But I liked the movie. It was pretty close to the comic as far as the origin story, just some minor details changed (the spider that bites Peter Parker is a gene-spliced super-spider rather than radioactive, that kind of thing).

Wow, this commentary is a blueprint for why you should dislike Wil Wheaton. Selling off your autograph to buy yourself a GPS gadget makes it look like you are whoring yourself out to the highest bidder. Secondly, Episode 1 was pretty good. Thirdly, I was was more disappointed in X men. Fourth- you are a Lakers fan. nuff said. Fifth- you are a dork. No offense, we all know it, and if you are comfortable with that, good for you.

You will never guess how I stumbled onto this site. I was google-izing the phrase "wheat grass," and this link popped up. (it honed in on "Wheat"...not sure how the "grass" part got in there.)

Being one of those "old-time" Star Trek fans, I had to take a look. What a hysterical site. Wil, you definately have funny--oh yeah, you got funny.

However, when I saw that pic on Ebay, it reminded me off a chant we used in college when watching reruns (and drinking beer) of the original Star Trek...

"Character in Red will soon be dead." Remember how an "away team" would be sent off, and the new face, or "character in red," would always seem to perish...

Oh, about the sinus infection--here is something you can try. Neti pot. No, no, nothing illegal involved. However, it is a bit gross. I won't put the details here...just Google-ize it!

Another thing is using essential oil of lavendar and rosemary to clear the passages (rub on temples and around nose--warm baths/showers are good as well). Some nice yarrow tea would help, too.

Disclaimer: I am a stay home mom, not a medical doctor--so use above advice at your own risk. You can add doctors with sticks singing the theme to "Welcome Back Kotter" if you need some extra umpfh!

All I will say about it is that it's nice to see a movie based on a comic that the makers of the film read, liked, and knew.

GPS UPDATE: I bought a GPS on Ebay, but the seller hasn't seen fit to reply to any of my emails in the last 24 hours.

Funny thing is I told loren that I'd buy one, and as soon as I bought it, someone would offer to hook me up with one on the cheap, and that is exactly what happened!

So a very cool reader offered to send me his GPS that he doesn't use anymore, and another reader offered to hook me up with his old GPS on the cheap.

So I go from 0 to 3 GPS possibilities in about 26 hours. How cool is that?

I had a GPS. Sold it. Should get another to try geocaching. It's actually rather like what my friends and I came up with where we drive to a spot, then call everyone with the coordinates and see who can get there fastest.

And about the antibiotics, they're evil but necessary sometimes. Having spent a good chunk of April in hospital in agonizing pain that the *wrong* antibiotic made worse was not fun. But it was more fun once they realized, switched the antibiotics and were able to do the surgery I needed. Now I have one more surgery on May 17th and after that I should be the healthiest of Mistys.

I think the pic of you wearing the 'real' TNG uniform is very cool. Too bad that I can't find more photos of it over the net. It looks better than this blue overall which zipper couldn't be totally closed at the backside... (however, during the tng-series you looked best in 'The Game') :))
When I watched X-Men and professor Xavier I had always Captain Picard in mind. Much because of this it was a good movie, there's not much difference in both characters. Now I'm looking forward to the sequel and spiderman. The first part of 'Blade' was also VERY hot (although thats 4 years ago...)!! SW:'Episode 1' was a desaster....I hope the second part will rehabilitate it!!
By the way, do you like music from 'linkin park'?? "A place for my head" RULEZ!! :)

Just saw the movie...

Yup, it rocked.

A few minor comic-book-guy quibbles (which I won't repeat here, since we're saving the "the lone gunmen are dead" until Monday, I guess...), but the effects were awesome and the story was more or less true to the original.

Afterwards, in the mens' room, I overheard the following exchange, which pretty well sums up the "relationship" part of the movie:

Guy at 1st urinal: So... didja think it was cool?

Guy at 2nd urinal: Yeah... [thoughtful pause] He shoulda f@#%ed her, though.

Guy at 1st urinal: Yeah.

Is it just me or did Wil look 35 in that TNG picture? anyone, I wouldn't get your hopes up about Hitchhiker's movie, if it's the same on I own. It's pretty bad. Done in that "70's sci-fi" style where every ship is done in vinyl siding, for some reason or another. It's a little nostalgic, and kind of cute if you're a die-hard, but it is over-all dissappointing, and for some reason goes through a bit of the second book as well.

Sinus infections suck, I just got off one. From what I've been hearing around here (central KS), its going to be a bad year for allergies. Good luck with it all.

Spiderman ROCKED. It was SOOOOO close to perfect and Roger Ebert just doesn't GET it. Feel better Wil.

I saw Spiderman yesterday, and I really liked it. It wasn't the classic guy-gets-girl-he-wants thing, which rocked, and the superhero wasnt stupid enough to fall for the pity-me trick from the green goblin, which also rocked! I think those crazy movie-makers are finally catching on to what's good and what's not!
Anyways, the real reason I'm leaving a second note.
I had this really really odd dream about you... and, no it wasn't some fan-crazed obsessed dream.
It was actually quite different.
MY DREAM:
Me and my friend Shelly were at the front of my geo class, giving a daily report on the happenings of the school, which seemed perfectly normal at the time, and so I looked down at my sheet and it said something along the lines of 'Giving the weather report will be Wil Wheaton'. And I totally did a double take.And then, in walked you as you are now, wearing that same shirt as you have on in the picture on this site... I couldn't see your face, but I knew it was you. And appearntly, you were a friend of my geography teacher, Mr. Greg Bell. So I got all worried, cause I had it in my head that you were still sick and asked you if you were okay and all and you wer elike 'yeah, I'm fine'
Then, we played this wild game of hide and seek, and we all had to run up and down stairs, and I remeber passing my friend Romith going down the stairs.... you were supose to be hiding, but for some reason, I found you right in front of the office of my school, Colonel By S.S.. But I didn't chase you, I just stayed there.
You had put on a desquise.... a costume... now here's the wierd part, and reme,ber it was only a dream... the costume was ANNE OF GREEN GABLES!!! I mean, and you didnt look like a guy in a girls costume... in fact. it looked exactly like Anne, I wasn't even sure why I knew it was you!!! A DREAM, REMEMBER? ONLY A DREAM!!! But i asked you again if you were okay and how you felt.
The game ended after, and you left and I went back to talk to my geography teacher and I asked if he talked to you on the telephone and he said yes and I asked if you could come in again and I think the answer was positive!
Anyways, that was the end. WASNT THAT SOOOO WEIRD????? I mean, please don't think I'm some physco crazed wierdo, you can't control your dream........ I just thought you would find it funny or something. Sorry if I offended you or whatever!

Wil, I just have to tell you a funny story. I have been hanging out with my friend's cousin lately and he looks just like you when you were younger. You know in Stand By Me how your top lip would get a bit puffy and overshadow your bottom lip? His does that a lot. Anyways...before I start sounding too obsessive. I was talking to my boss about this guy (his name is Rob) and I mentioned he looks like Wil Wheaton. And he went...he looks like a chick? I was a little confused and he said...well you said he looked like Wooween. I burst out laughing. I tried explaining who you are and how your name is spelt and what relation you are to Rob. But he just gets overly confused and we just end up saying...Wooween a lot.

First Off, I feel weird being on a first name basis, second off ( if that is a term) your message was great untill you wrote "Go Lakers!" I live in Davis, therefore I am a Kings fan, and I just have to say.. GO KINGS! Otherwise, that picture was pretty slick. When I was little and watched Star Trek with my parents, keep in mind I was 6 at the time, I had a huge crush on Wesley Crusher, and that pic reminded me of my carefree childhood days. And yes, a big ten-four on being sick and it's level of suckiness. I drove for a half hour to get my guitar player for band practice. Then drove forty minutes to practice. Practiced for an hour (think punk songs sound snotty? Imagine if the lead singer has a head cold.), then another forty minutes to the guitar player's house, then a half hour to my house. It's ultra anti-productive when you spend more time in your car then in practice. Yeah, my band's punk and today we sounded like ish.

I thought the title was from the 80s sitcom of the same name. Sorry about the sickness. I just got over the flu not long ago. I barley had the strength to take the dog out. I hope I can stay away from the media until I see "Spiderman" next weekend. I don't want anyone ruining the movie for me.

Holland is shocked. Everyone is complaining about there little illnesses. I even done that but after this I am very quiet. A politician Pim Fortuyn has been killed by a stupid man. Why does this happen?? Should this be happening??? NO offcourse not but looking at television it is happening and it is making me very angry. Desame anger I felt at 11th september 2001.

Come on now, The Phantom Menace wasn't that bad if you took it in the Context of it being an introduction of the characters. They are supposed to be six films not just one. So give me a break, besides it has a really great Light Sabre fight. I've read the book for Ep. II and if the movie even remotely goes along with the book, it's going to be FREAKING AWESOME. But you have to see the first one to get glimpses into why Anakin is the way he is.

Anyway Wil I recall you not liking it when someone tells you they hate your character Wesley on Star Trek, and proceeds to tell you why. So how do you think Jake Lloyd feels when people gripe about him being in Ep. I. He's a lot younger than you were and I think he did an amazing job.

Okay so I'm a major geek but I just thought I'd throw in my two cents. I know everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I do respect yours.

Am I the only one who thinks that Spider-Man did not rule? Not nearly as much as X-Men anyway, which did in fact rule. It didn't totally suck like Batman 2, 3, and 4 at least, though, and Spider-Man was damn sexy.

Fear of a Punk Planet is an amazing album. As a lifetime O.C. resident, I think I'm required to love it, though.

I stumbled upon this site through a link on greenday.net of all places, and it struck me as really interesting considering the fact that I've got basically the same thing myself, albeit with a certain degree less of celebrity status.
