Home Again

Anne and I are back from the AVON 3 Day.

Our feet are as sore as you'd think, Anne hyper-extended her knee, and I really messed up the arch ofmy right foot...but it was the most amazing experience I have ever had in my life. It was absolutely life-changing, and I can't wait to write all about it.

It will be several days before I can, though, because when I got home, I found out that I had been cast in a movie.

That's right.

Just when I decide that I'm not going to be an actor any more, I go and get cast in a movie.

As the lead.

I am number one on the call sheet, and everything!

I had my first day today, and I will work every day on the production, right up until my anniversary in November...so I fear that entries in the old WWDN Weblog will be shorter, more diary-like, some updates on the movie and stuff.

Right now, I am exhausted, and I have to go to sleep. More updated information about the film and the walk when I have some time.

Oh, I am going to be on Screen Savers on Wednesday. It should be a really funny segment, so check it out.

Unless you're not into funny tech stuff, and babes. In that case, you'd probably be better off watching Maisy.

Know what's weird? I had Chinese take out with the kids a few weeks ago, and my fortune said:

"All your hard work is about to pay off."

Congrats, Wil!

Things have a way of coming to you when you no longer expect them... there's probably some eastern philosophy that says it better. Desire nothing, and all will be yours -- or some such thing. :)

Anyhow, way to go!

Cool!! Wil is gonna be Darth Vader!! ... Oh, wait, the guy who played Anakin could still do it. Darn. But does Vader have a posse?

Posted by: Louis_Wu at October 22, 2002 11:52 PM

Hell yeah! Way to go Wil! I can't wait to see the movie :) Ciao.

Posted by: parvati at October 23, 2002 12:00 AM

Congrats Wil!

could it be the new james bond movie?

that new scary film with all the people that
get killed?

that new "love story" with anna nichole?

I guess we will just have to wait and hear....

gee... that's funny. a few days ago
my horoscope said that some guy from far away
was going to give me a break in some new venture
and have me hired as his new "butler sidekick"

hmmmm.... what are the odd's?
it's a goocher!

soak those feet Wil, rest up. and win that oscar!

Yay Wil!

Posted by: missy at October 23, 2002 12:04 AM

Congratulations. You rock.
I saw Stand By Me dubbed into German the other night. Hilfe! Hilfe! Ich werde blind!
What was the final tally on the money raised? Last time I looked it was like 15 skillion dollars or something. Way to go!

Posted by: Nitz at October 23, 2002 12:05 AM

That's great news! About the movie, not the ouchies. I hope you and Anne both recover quickly.

I just KNEW you were not done being an actor. Just when we give up chasing something it comes to us! I can't wait to hear more about it.

Life is good!

Posted by: AngelGypsy at October 23, 2002 12:11 AM

I'm glad to hear about the movie! Can't wait to hear more about it! I'm sure it will be great.

Posted by: Jay at October 23, 2002 12:12 AM

Congratulations! That is very cool. After reading about all the "you were really good but...."s it is good to see you finally land a sizeable role. I've always enjoyed you as an actor (and for the last year or so as a writer). So it is great that we'll be seeing both sides in the movie and the book. You GO Wil Wheaton.

Posted by: Dal at October 23, 2002 12:14 AM

Wonderful news on both parts. Now go soak your feet, and go to bed.

Posted by: Dee at October 23, 2002 12:17 AM

Wow, way to go Wil! That's the way to raise money for cancer. Can't wait to hear about the filming of your movie. That's great that you're the lead. Don't forget to save up for the "money shots"...just kidding.

Hope it's not too cheesey & the plot is decent. Also hate those B-films made in Ontario, Canada or the other cheap flicks where they say, "Bloody Wanker a lot. Maybe it's a sequel to Stand by Me or it's The Curse: It's biteback time.

I'm still hoping it's the new Logan's Run movie, but that's just hopeful thinking on my part.

Dunno...guess I'll just have to wait and see. The world thanx you for raising money to fight Breast Cancer.

Posted by: jeffroDOH at October 23, 2002 12:50 AM

A little aside...I occasionally do a search on the listings to see what is going to be showing with Wil in it. I kept seeing listings for a movie called Pie in the Sky, Finally caught it this past weekend. Cute movie, entertaining, but Wil is only in one scene and only has one or two lines. And I missed those because I was on the phone telling my sister the movie was on... :/

Fantastic Wil! Great going.
I was so disapointed that I would not be able to see you in Star Trek X and now you have a lead role and everything.
Waiting with bated breath over here in the UK for the name of the film and release date.

Congrats Wil! My fortune said, "You love Chinese food." I think that means I'm screwed.

Posted by: Tim the Uber Cactus at October 23, 2002 05:05 AM

My favorite fortune was when I went out to Mongolian BBQ with my family. I tore open the cookie and ate it first (tradition is to not read the fortune until the cookie is gone so the fortune will come true). It read: "Stop searching forever, happiness is just next to you"

I've still got the fortune right over the picture of my wife and kids in my wallet ...

Wil, the whole Mythos is cheering (well actually waving tentacles, screeching in unhuman voices, chittering, whispering in the darkness, piping at the center of chaos, generally having a antedeluvian cyclopian batrachian hella good time) for you.

Looks like the stars are right for you, Wil.

And, how was the ALASKA CRUISE, anyway?

Posted by: Nyarl at October 23, 2002 05:37 AM

You go, Wil! Now quit taunting us and tell us the title of the movie!

Posted by: Nancy at October 23, 2002 05:39 AM

Wil will become a superstar and get $20 million/movie, hope he does cool stuff with it.

Posted by: hunter at October 23, 2002 05:42 AM

I don't believe any of your readers actually thought you would end your time as an actor. Even if you swore it off completely, people would always immortalize you for your film roles. I have to imagine that your perspective will change dramatically from the past few years, in the event your new film is a blockbuster.
It would be interesting to see your second book of memoirs, (which you should release first) that contains all of the "I was so young and naive when I wrote that" references to the first, which, of course, gets published later.

Thanks for doing your part.

Posted by: dwyerdawn at October 23, 2002 05:56 AM

Allright Wil! I'll go see that even if it's a porno. Hell, ESPECIALLY if it's a porno...

Here's a though for your acting career.

If you love something, set it free. If it does not return, it was never yours in the first place.

You recently set it free, and now it has returned.

So, any chance we, your loyal web monkeys and army of conquest(tm) in training, can get a little bit of info about the movie? Just the name, or a basic gist of what the story is (Wil is the cooler-than-Bond star who stops a madman from taking over the world??) or even who else is in it?
If you're not allowed to disclose anything because of a studio agreement then i suppose we'll just have to go snoop on our own ;)
