I live around San Francisco (well, both north of it in Sonoma county and then south in Santa Cruz county) and we've never actually had TechTV on standard cable. Pretty annoying given its proximity to both its source of origin (SF) and silicon valley. Oh well.

Those Airport cards are pretty good at finding open WAPs. I used mine to pay my bill online (someone else's online -- I think they live in my building) when the ISP cut off my DSL.

Phil, that commercial was hilarious! Avery was great in those IBM spots. I love Avery (and DS9) a lot to begin with, but that ad was all the more funny to me, ecause the first time my wife I stepped outside on Jan. 1, 2000 that was the first thing I said: "Where are the flying cars they promised us?!?" A couple moths later, that ad debuted.

Just wanted to say that you're doing a great job on TSS.

Wil, I sure hope you're using some encryption when checking your email and updating your site over public WiFi (or private wifi, since really all wifi is very public). Email me if you want some tips on how to safely use your mac on untrusted networks. If you don't use encryption on wireless networks, you _will_ regret it. Especially in a city like SF, where there are tons of people capturing data off the air. Heck, I was dumping data off wireless networks just last night in SF!

Speaking of which, you were missed at the creative commons thing lastnight (for which your name was on the guestlist..). There was even a live performance of the original trek theme :)

The Flying Car(TM) used the be THE symbol representing the future for me when I was growing up (I'm 5 years younger than you, Wil - this is my first post, by the way - hello!). My brother who is not a fan of yours was saying you were really cool and that he thinks you should be on Tech TV more often. You definetly sounded like you knew what you were talking about and you seemed really comfortable on the set. I hadn't heard your voice on TV in quite awhile and it just reminded me that you have a very pleasant voice to listen to. You did better than the guy in the skirt. I wish I had seen more of the show but my brother was playing a new wrestling game on the PS2 and would only occassionally pause it for me to watch TV. You looked like you were having fun. And I loved your line about how the guy wasted what time was left asking if there was time for a question. That was great. :-)

I LOVED the show last night. I'm a regular viewer of The Screensavers from way back (God, I miss Kate Botello). Anyway, I thought that you were a hoot. I hope that if you can't do a regular gig (since you'd have to move to SanFran), you'd at least be asked back regularly to guest host.

Yes, I also hope that you will be paired with Martin next time. While I normally like Patrick when he is paired up with Leo, he really didn't mesh well with you. I think he actually came off as condescending.
