Small World

I got the 20th Anniversary DVD of National Lampoon's Vacation at Amoeba Music yesterday . . . after seeing Freddy Vs. Jason* with Darin.

It's pretty good . . . the transfer is beautiful, the sound is great, and the movie is, of course, a classic.

The special features aren't as good as I'd hoped, and they seem to have replaced "I'm So Excited" (AKA Christy Brinkley's Theme) with some other Pointer Sisters song, without any explaination . . . but the commentary is really fun to listen to.

But check this out: the dog who played "Dinky" is the same dog who played "Chopper" in Stand By Me! I found this out listening to the commentary, where Harold Ramis told us that the dog's name is "Popeye," and that he went on to work in several other films.

(Freddy vs. Jason possible spoiler below)

*This movie is hilarious. I only have two complaints: They totally re-create the Jason Myth (obliterating over 20 years of history), and the super hot lead girl never gets naked. I mean, if you're gonna cast a super hot girl to be your lead . . . in a HORROR movie, I don't think it's unrealistic to expect some gratuitous nudity. Who's with me?!
