« in between days | Main | skylarking » October 02, 2003all inAt times like this, I wish I had a publicist. "Bravo will take over Las Vegas where twenty-five Hollywood stars will all vie to win the first ever "Celebrity Poker Showdown," a new six-part, one-hour original series hosted by Kevin Pollak airing Tuesdays this Winter, it was announced today by Jeff Gaspin, President, Bravo. SO why not contact Bravo directly to see if you can get in? We could even get a campaign going to help you out. I know that I think it would be a hoot to see you there - I think you would bring some brevity to the situation by not being as damned serious as everyone else. Posted by: Andrew at October 2, 2003 05:50 PMYeah, a grass roots campaign might be what is needed. And send them a letter including a lot of fancy poker terms and see if that impresses them ;-) And Wil, I guess I'll ask you here... if you ever need an outlet for poker stories, I've got a multi-contributor blog set up dedicated to poker only. I'd love to hear why you enjoy poker :-) The url is in the trackback for this post. Posted by: CJ at October 2, 2003 05:57 PMBetter yet, Wil! How's about working on getting Ryan in the game!?!?! :-) Posted by: Michael Demmons at October 2, 2003 06:07 PMWil - Kevin Pollack used to do one of the best "Shatner as Kirk" impressions in the universe (if you didn't already know that). I'm reasonably sure the guy is a Trekkie from way back. And, if that's so, he'd probably love to have any Trek veterans participate. Wil? Are you out there? Find Kevin Pollack's number (or his agent's) and ask him, for cryin' out loud! Famous true story: Elizabeth Taylor used to watch the Carol Burnett Show regularly and wished someone from the series would call and ask her to be a guest. All it takes is a word in the right ear or a phone call to the right person. Wil? Are you reading this? Call the man! If you don't do it, you'll never know what would have happened if you had done it. I would like to see the celebs head-to-head with current poker champs... now *that* would make a stellar game. Jack Black versus Phil Hellmuth... OMG, I would pay to see that. Posted by: courtney at October 2, 2003 07:51 PMI believe when the World Poker Tour went to LA, there were quite a few celebrities who entered. Jerry Buss (LA Lakers owner) even made the final table. Matt Damon and Edward Norton both entered the World Series of Poker while making the movie Rounders. They were the definition of dead money, both busting out relatively early. I'd give Wil a much better chance than them! Posted by: CJ at October 2, 2003 09:14 PMThere seems to be ample support here for you to go for it! Posted by: :: jozjozjoz :: at October 2, 2003 10:55 PM I'd suggest this might be a good time to call Jonathan Frakes just to kick around some ideas. Dude. DUDE! I finally get the Bravo channel now so you HAVE to be on that show, man. wil, i'll be your publicist... doesn't matter that im 17. :-P it's okie, maybe they'll call you--or not, whatevah. i can always invite you over to my house and we'll play poker...ten bucks says i can kick your ass :) Posted by: hayley at October 3, 2003 05:43 AMWil,
Will Norman Chad fall in love with Wil like he did with Sam Farha? Posted by: Fred Fowler at October 3, 2003 12:01 PMi don't think it would be all that much fun watching celebrities play poker on television...now if my own friends were on the show that would be different...but none of us are celebrities...yet. Posted by: d. burr at October 4, 2003 07:38 AMThat would be cool to see the STNG crew playing celebrity poker. Posted by: TDavid at October 4, 2003 05:43 PMOkay 'casino', comment spam is not cool. Haven't you said your son is a better poker player than you? Maybe he should have a publicist. ;) Posted by: Lisa at October 4, 2003 07:09 PMUgh. Fucking spammers. Does anyone know how to make that crap stop? Posted by: wil at October 4, 2003 10:43 PMMr. Wheaton, Believe it or not, your cries have not gone Phil Gordon Man... I sure hope that was the real Phil Gordon! Posted by: CJ at October 5, 2003 09:41 PMHeh. The "Too Good To Be True" file gets another entry. :-) Posted by: wil at October 5, 2003 11:03 PMThis soo sappy, but I hope you get the point. Even if we digress or make offers of help in areas we know nothing about, the folks out here really like you and want you to be happy. It never pays to believe that you are the center of the universe, but you have created a special place of good will and positive energy for yourself and others. Thanks again for letting us comment.
