Actually, the comic book shop idea is more like Welcome to Eltingville, a one-off show Cartoon Network aired on Adult Swim. The story involved the comic shop getting one of the original Boba Fett action figure, and the local geeks engaging in a trivia contest to decide who could buy it.

Well first off you rocked in your 10 seconds in I love the 80's and although they never mentioned your name, they did cover the leech scene so you are already a VH1 star. Also I sorta liken the geekyness of your comicbook story to the guys in HiFidelity so if your gonna get Liv Tyler to do the movie you should also get Jack Black to be the guy that never leaves the store.

Congrats, and good luck! I can really picture you doing that VHI gig, and it sounds like fun (from what little you've said). I hope all goes very well for this project, even the title leaves room for a lot of humor... I might just get cable to see it! (I've laughed out loud from some of your audio blogs, so being a host sounds natural)

Even if you hated Empire Records, mentioning it in a pitch might jog the foggy memory &/or imagination of whatever producer/studio exec you'd be talking to.

I like your idea. And I think someone eles mentioned the notion of taking it in a Waiting for Godot direction, which would rock. Nothing forces people to deal with each other quite like the absence of the person they are waiting for.

Actually, your idea reminded me of High Fidelity with John Cusack. Although, the comic book thing is just different enough, and the rest of the story is probably very different, that you could probably swing it.

In other news, you totally inspired me to have my first Guiness of the fall :) I think it was that picture in your moblog that did it. MMmmm. It was good. Nectar o' the gods... If I ever find myself in your neighborhood again, I'll buy you one!!
