Another Gallery Update

When I did uploaded all my road trip photos recently, I felt like there were several missing images, particularly from Cuervo and Tucumcari, New Mexico.

Last night, I found them! They were conveniently hidden on my iBook in the ~/roadtip/images directory. Clever, tricksey, wicked, filthy, stinking little jpegs! We hates them!

Anyway, I just added a them to the Eastbound -- New Mexico album, precious.

I have an urge to take a road trip across Route 66. Maybe not the entire route, but I'd love to visit a portion of it, especially out west. What prompted these feelings? Well, I was making my usual visit [Read More]

Nice pics... but I love living in Washington, much more to see.

Ack. Dead cow.

I've had the benefit of living in Washington and New Mexico. There's an equal amount to see in both states, but it's tough to get me to leave WA, that's for sure.

As kids growing up in Albuquerque, we used to make fun of Tucumcari. Think about it...

Yeah I once had blurry water. It came from the L.A. reservoir. "Personally I like my swill with a twist".

OMFG!! You take dorky pictures just lke me. *Grin*

I LOVE your commentary. You should write a travel guide. Like Rick Steve's or whatever his name is, only it'd be cool enough for your Monkeys.

Wheeeeeeeeee!!

Ever catch yourself sculpting the Mesa out of your mashed potatoes?

Posted by: Erik M at November 6, 2003 12:57 PM

ahhh...because they were in "roadtip" instead of "roadtrip".

Anyone could have made that mistake.

Wil, you've made me so homesick for this truly enchanted state! I lived in Santa Fe from 1991 to 1998, and still make the trip out from Dallas about once a year. You need to spend more time there to discover what a weird wonderful state of mind New Mexico really is!

Posted by: Eva at November 6, 2003 01:29 PM

Hey Wil,

A good way to get pictures of yourself without all the chins is to position the camera so you look up at it. Love the weblog!

I just wanted to say how pleased I am that you've found the time to update so often and well, all while things seem to go swimmingly for you. So often in the past it has seemed that when you have time to update, it's because you aren't getting enough work and so have more time on your hands. Now, it seems like you have BOTH time AND work, and I'm very glad for you. Please keep writing. I love reading this stuff.

Hey Wil! Great pictures! I'm from Germany, but was an exchange student in New Mexico. I lived in a village that was a mix of Tucumcari and Cuervo, I'd say, so I loved seeing those pictures. Made me a sentimental, but also very happy to live in Berlin. And man, I do miss those rootbeer floats at Sonic in Tucumcari. lol

Hey Wil, those photos are FAB! i really enjoy looking at them all, and appreciating the time and effort that has gone into, not only the pictures, but the added captions too! Cheers dude! Keep up the GREAT work.

As an aside, I really liked seeing the pictures of all the nifty signs.

I knew it, Wil! I just knew you'd be a LotR fan! You are the coolest. I love LotR and can't wait for RotK- but at the same time I'll be sad, 'cuz it's the last one in the trilogy. :(

The "box" with a roadrunner is an Albuquerque trash can. Ah, how I remember those suckers. You'd be amazed at how much fancier it all looks compared to just a few years ago.

WIL,
Those were good pictures of the wild west. I never take pictures but it is a good thing that some people do.

The Motel 6 with the "Indoop Poo" would be a good one to send to Jay Leno.

dead cow? where?!
wow! i've lived around here most all my life, and i've still never even been through tucumcari! ..here being eastern nm.
as much as we trash the state, it really can be beautiful. you just have to look at it as a non-native. have you seen carlsbad?
there's something strangely cool about famous people talking about places you've been. or seeing road signs on their blogs. hey, i know that billboard!
i have to shut up before i begin commenting on your commentary.
