I don't know how much rewrite I'm going to get done today . . . we have a lot of preparation to do for Thursday, and I feel guilty writing while Anne does stuff around the house. I'll post whatever I get done. Congrats on the huge eBay sale! Have a great Thanksgiving and rock out on your reading on Friday! Posted by: =^) at November 25, 2003 09:33 AMYou're writing a comic for Epic? Posted by: Joseph J. Finn at November 25, 2003 09:39 AMDarn it, Wil, I am still wanting to get a copy of your book. I do hope another printing happens in the near future. I ain't got $400 to throw at it on Ebay even if it is autographed. By the way I think you're swell. Posted by: scott d. feldstein at November 25, 2003 09:41 AMGlad to hear things are going well for ya, Wil! I still need to order a copy of Dancing Barefoot. Hopefully, I can still find one out there or, failing that, I'll await the next printing and buy your "new and improved" version Looking forward to your "epic" annoucement. I'm guessing it's the VH-1 project. "One Geek To Rule Them All!" You can use that title if you want, free of charge. Hey, are ya stil looking for Grateful Dead shows? Don't mean to be pushy, but I never heard back from you. I know you're a busy guy so that's fine, but the offer is always open to you or any other Monkeys reading this. Posted by: Shaun at November 25, 2003 09:49 AM Way to go Wil! You do realise that it is only wednesday, you couldn't possibly have waited to, say, Friday to tell us that you're going to deliver an 'epic' announcement on monday? Great, there goes my concentration for the rest of the week-thanks, you moron :) Posted by: Annie at November 25, 2003 09:58 AMSo I've been dying to ask.... Does Wil Wheaton do housework? Above and beyond taking out the garbage and feeding the dogs? Posted by: Michelle at November 25, 2003 10:06 AMI'm still damned excited to be getting the book!! Just so people don't think I'm totally crazy, I won a fair bit of that $400 on a lottery scratch card and thought I'd turn it into something way, way cooler than the sum total of 200,000 of her majesty's british pennies. The alternative was spending it on Guinness at uni - and i do that too much already as it is... Anyhow - ditto Annie's comment!! Thanks again wil =:¬) Posted by: Jez at November 25, 2003 10:09 AM20,000 pennies, even. It might help if I learned to count! D'oh... Posted by: Jez at November 25, 2003 10:11 AMSweet. Wil is finally going to hit 21st level. Posted by: Timothy at November 25, 2003 10:22 AMoh my god, wil. Thanks so much for the e-mail. That essay is going to kick ass. Oh by the way, its an essay comparing Stand By Me to The Graduate. lol I don't know how that's going to turn out. Thanks again!! ~Annette~ Posted by: Annette at November 25, 2003 10:24 AMWay to go on the book man. I can't wait until your second edition prints so I can get a copy. By the way, my favorite hockey team, the St Louis Blues, is in first in the Central division. See ya in the playoffs!! Posted by: Scotty at November 25, 2003 10:48 AMDude, it's like TOTALLY monday. So out with it. Unless you meant next monday, in which case we may have to torture the informatino from your bloody corpse. N'stuff. Sorry, the turtles... they GET to you. Just saw "Finding Nemo" last night. Funny how stuff like that can affect the way you talk. Kinda like the time I spent an afternoon at Dave & Busters playing racing games with my friends, then got behind the wheel of my car. WHOA HORSEY!! I had to really concentrate to not drive like I had been for the last couple hours. And it was depressing how little acceleration I had compared to that virtual beast I'd been riding around in for so long. Posted by: Mark at November 25, 2003 10:51 AMIn a division where there's a 4 point spread between last and first, that's just not really saying much is it Wil? ;-) The San Jose Sharks are 2 points out of last place and 2 points out of first in the Pacific Division. We are convinced that they are just trying to tie their way into the playoffs. Here's hoping the West Coast Cup stays in San Jose again this year. Posted by: Stephanie at November 25, 2003 10:55 AMCome back to Oregon for another book signing! I'll skip out on work this time, I promise!! Posted by: CrassLass at November 25, 2003 10:55 AMWil and Anne have an EPIC announcement, shouldn't you say? Posted by: buntz at November 25, 2003 11:05 AMI know how excited I was when I got my autographed book. Thinking about it- I'm still on cloud 9. I feel accomplished because I grew up with you on television and to have the autograph of someone you thought/(think) was/(is) a fantastic actor.. it just does something to yah. :) Whether you know it or not, you have a large fanbase, and we're extremely thankful that you're cool enough to want to interact with us on a regular basis. :) We're happy that you're not just another stuck up snobbish actor who could care less about the people who put him where he is today. Of course your book sold for $400.00- you're one of the greats. :) $400? Damn, that's a whole lotta cash especially to us slackerish types. Have fun at the convention. I so need to drive down to LA again. Lots of fun things going on in that neighborhood. I'm in total suspense about the epic announcement on Monday! Posted by: retrorandy at November 25, 2003 11:08 AMactually, i think stephanie meant to call it the left coast cup, but yeah... we hope it will stay in san jose. because i sure don't want to lug it all the way to the NHLBCC 2004 in toronto to hand it over to the kings or the ducks. can't wait to hear the announcement wil, and when you finish your house work, ask anne if you can come over and finish mine. ;) Posted by: zettgrl at November 25, 2003 11:10 AMChris Hardwick is insanely funny. He was great on a short-lived UPN series called Guys Like Us. I personally think this is the funniest thing I saw on his website. Wil, we need an explanation for this: Brad Posted by: Brad Kimberly at November 25, 2003 11:10 AMI was wondering if Chris Hardwick was the same one that hosted Trashed (the game show) on MTV, so I checked his site out... it looks like he's the same guy (also hosted Singled Out)... but he omitted Trashed from his bio! WTF?!? Where's the pride, man? Posted by: Coffee Addict at November 25, 2003 11:24 AMFirst off, I don't know where everybody is, but over here, it's Tuesday. That being said, congrats to the winner of the book, it's a great book, can't wait for the next. My favorite team is the Ottawa Senarghharhhargtors. Sorry, I guess choking is contagious... By the way, tied for last in the Northeast! Yeah! Posted by: Nick at November 25, 2003 11:33 AMAnnouncement? SUuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure. We've all heard THAT one before. Posted by: EllyLoo at November 25, 2003 11:34 AMThose Borg9 shirts are way cool. You should consider mass production again, maybe also in small sizes? finally! the life changing news weve been waiting for! Epic announcement, eh? Did Uncle Willie get a recording contract? :-o Posted by: Cerise at November 25, 2003 12:10 PMCongrats on the sale, Wil! $400 for a book, and especially a first book, is AWESOME!! As I write this, I'm preparing my Thanksgiving dinner two days early, due to my work schedule. Knowing that you and Anne are going to be working feverishly to get ready for Thursday, I'm including a humorous recipe for roast turkey that you might find amusing. (I'd be happy to email it, since I DO have a digital signature certificate, but since I use Windows XP, and you use Linux, I'm not quite sure how to email you, especially given the apparent length and complexity of your public key.) Anyhow, here 'tis: HOW TO COOK A TURKEY (AUTHOR UNKNOWN): 1) Go buy a turkey. If you'd like me to add some instructions for stuffing the bird when cooked in this manner, let me know! Seriously, Wil, have a happy Thanksgiving! Sincerely, I have not posted here in forever, but epic announcement? You know what all the women who read WWdN immediately think! What about a hint- we are an impatient bunch! Hope you and your family have a great Turkey Day! Katie Posted by: Katie at November 25, 2003 12:42 PMGAH! We have to wait a whole week to find out? Time for rampant speculation: *VH1 series announcement Am I getting warmer? Posted by: Jason Glaser at November 25, 2003 12:49 PMMy favorite hockey team is the Carolina Hurricans. Don't feel bad my mom and dad are cleaning and I am on the web posting too. Posted by: Sherrie at November 25, 2003 12:53 PMIn my experience, 'epic announcements' tend to be pregnant wives. I hope I'm correct. How terribly exciting. Posted by: Jon at November 25, 2003 01:07 PMOkay, just to clarify: we are *not* having a baby. :) Posted by: wil at November 25, 2003 01:34 PMI agree with Brad Kimberly up above that a quick explanation of that graphic from Chris Hardwick's site would be worthwhile.... Posted by: Kenner at November 25, 2003 01:39 PMWOW! I can't believe that someone made such a high bet. Must be a great book. Although one thing bothers me, the only way you financially support your family is by using your "fans". It's pretty pathetic that you are still obsessive about the TNG days....get a real job! What are you planning to do in 20 years? Be a wannabe Shatner? Posted by: jake at November 25, 2003 01:58 PMI know the announcement!!!!! Wil is going to be on E! True Hollywood Stories!!! (it's only a matter of time ;-) Seriously--it would be cool if Wil was on The Actor's Studio on Bravo. That would rock. LA Kings fan, right here!! Wil, Enjoy the bird on Turkey Day. And remember this just like your last meal-Theres people starving and freezing in this country all the time. Happy T-Day. Posted by: c. Mat at November 25, 2003 02:15 PMEPIC... How bout a hint... Posted by: Doug Haffner at November 25, 2003 02:26 PMApropos of nothing - Wil's hand can be seen tempting fate at http://forums.fark.com/cgi/fark/comments.pl?IDLink=729930 - second picture down. Cracked me right up. Posted by: Giles at November 25, 2003 02:32 PMJust gotta say that I'm astonished to be the first to compliment you on your Primus reference! PRIMUS SUCKS! Posted by: Adam Dickson at November 25, 2003 02:44 PMWoo! Primus does indeed suck. :) Posted by: wil at November 25, 2003 03:42 PMoooooo Epic.. Posted by: Caitlin at November 25, 2003 05:21 PMWil, This is not some mooshy touchy feely email, okay yeah it is. I just want to say thanks for being a great guy and being so honest in your writings. I wish I could be as honest about my foibles and shortcomings as you are. It takes a true man to be so open and willing to share true, meaningful emotion. You are impeccable with your word and that states alot about the man they come from. Not a sci-fi geek or crazed fan, just a guy that happened to stumble into wil world and likes to browse about. Posted by: Jason at November 25, 2003 07:11 PMTuesday?!? You tease! Posted by: BoltBait at November 25, 2003 07:28 PMSee, he said "we" are not having a baby! Woo hoo!!! Posted by: buntz at November 25, 2003 07:52 PMMy guess is, he expects to send "Just a Geek" to the press by mon^H^H^Htues^H^H^H^H mid-December. ;) (No pressure here Wil! Enjoy your thanksgiving.) That or the VH-1 deal goes stellar. Or maybe, since it's "epic", Wil stars in Lord of the Rings IV: Sauron's Revenge? And jake, read around some more, there's more to discover about Unca Willie than his TNG past. For instance, there's his Shirt. Posted by: tjeu at November 26, 2003 12:52 AMSeriously man... I still need an explanation for this: Wil if the Kings are your fav, then if you are ever on the east coast you have to make it up to Manchester, NH to see the Monarchs play. There will be more than one name you'll recognize out there on the ice, and they aren't doing too badly this year either! And if you do, let us know. We can make it Wil Wheaton fan night at the Verizon! Posted by: mark at November 26, 2003 05:39 AM>Okay, just to clarify: we are *not* having a baby. Okay...I'm with Jason on this one.. Rick Berman agreed to kiss your butt? :D CK aka TonyInCalgary Posted by: CanadianKnight at November 26, 2003 07:17 AMSo what's my double signed one worth? Wil signed my signed copy at San Diego ComicCon, with the note that the first signing was on his dining room table. How about the Munchin shirt he signed? The humanity of it all, the beer I could buy and shut this damn brain up. Posted by: Mark at November 26, 2003 08:11 AMi dunno, 400 bucks for a book is a lot of dough. i think i'd be worried about the amount of influence i had if a book of mine reached that sort of sum at e-bay. maybe i just see a terrorist hiding behind every lamp-post... Posted by: howey at November 26, 2003 09:55 AMCongrats, Wil! I have yet to read the book but judging by everyones comments and this lame website, it sounds like a winner. This is only the tip of the iceberg, right Wil? You are a very good writer judging from your rewrites and observances chronicled in what has become to me the best blog of anyone. Congratulations on what is certainly a high achievement. Posted by: Mr. Sandwiches at November 26, 2003 01:46 PMPlease Please Please tell me someone taped the Tron Rock Opera show and your gonna give us information where to pick it up. Please Please Please heheehhehehe. Posted by: cheyenneway at November 27, 2003 01:03 AMIs the epic announcemant winning a Kia hatchback...? Well, probably not. But I've always wondered about the "Wil Wheaton Car of Whimsy Drive" and it's results, as that was how I found this site (ha, does that count as a negative hit?). Whatever the EPIC announcement, it *sounds* good, and I'm happy for you. Posted by: Angelica at November 27, 2003 11:15 PMThank GOD somebody said something about Primus. Since reading this post that line has repeated in my head on a loop. It's so familiar, yet it was driving me crazy that I could not remember where it came from...
