Holy crap.
I have an actual Audition tomorrow, for a pilot!
This show sounds hilarious, and right up my alley: It's about a married couple in their early 30s, and how they reconcile their punk rock past with their pottery barn present.
Funniest thing: I'm not reading for the husband with the punk rock past . . . I'm reading for the part of his new neighbor . . . who is an uptight conservative, whose idea of a good time is discussing the latest mid-sized SUV.
Talk about playing against type!

(Although it's got me thinking about the same sort of idea that a few other shows had -- remember /Family Ties/?)

And "back then" I always claimed to be one of them, although it was a well-known secret that I wasn't. I was just a *huge* Wil Wheaton fan and frankly, Wesley was my only reason for caring about that show, I admit.
A few days ago I saw one of those old Star Trek episodes again and, though I enjoy my (almost) daily visits on your site and your writing talent immensly, I found myself thinking "Gee, I'd really love to see him acting again."

Posted by: synchronicity at March 4, 2004 05:30 PMHmm... from reviewing work that you have done it seems that you have to get better representation. I sell steel drums for a living... I realize that is a completely unrelated market, but some truths remain:
You CAN get work in animated. Now animated has gone to hell lately since any guy with half an idea can produce it now using his home computer/fapping source.
You can also get middling roles in film or made for TV type stuff.
I guess what I am trying to say is that those of us in the rest of the mortal coil are sometimes forced to survival jobs... I'm a fully qualified Quality Manager and Steel specialist and I did my time checking out videos.
Point being... perhaps you should reconsider your representation. The work is out there... who would have imagined Whiny Luke Skywalker to do the magnificent job that he has done as the Joker on the Batman cartoon.

WOW! I can understand everything that the movie
represents, the SUPER CAMPINESS for lack of a better word... of course, I had to fast forward through most of it... only slowing to normal to
watch your parts...
I give it 2 of 5 stars for overall "effort"
5 of 5 for it's pure "CAMPY" feel...
I also enjoyed your commentary...

(Sorry for speaking for you Wil). If I was Wil, I'd be hanging my head for the memory of who I was a person at that time, not for the character per se. Wil's admitted to his own past 'jerkness' and how it was tied to the success he experienced ST:TNG. I suspect it's hard to mentally separate all these things. But as I said, I think time will provide that, and future success even more so. At least, that's how it seems to work for me.
Again Wil, sorry if I'm speculating on your behalf too much. I'll shut up now!

Regardless of whether or not you get the part, auditioning is always such a valuable experience for a performer. I'll keep my fingers crossed though. :)
