W00t! First post!

This is Rich, from DeveloperShed. It was great doing the interview with you, and I can tell you that all of us (well, some of us anyways) have taken to reading your blog on a (semi) regular basis.

Cool interview

Wil, I think you have reached "critical mass." I predict that after your book [JAG] comes out virtually everyone in the western part of the country will have one or two degrees of separation from you with the rest of the country not far behind! Enjoyed the interview.

Seeing as I was the editor in charge of putting the interview to print (thereby revealing the apparently valley-girl-like speech patterns of Wil), I feel that I should comment on the interview.

It was fun. It was cool. (But what else would one expect?)

And on to related matters...

Regarding the speech itself, after transcribing the interview (which had been recorded), I found myself noticing my own speech patterns. Much to my chagrin, I found that I tend to stutter, mumble, and use the words "like" and "uhm" and inordinate amount of times. (No wonder my co-workers are constantly telling me to slow down when I speak. Or talk louder. Or repeat what I was saying. Or enunciate. Aw, hell. I should just post stickies on my forehead and let people read them!) Like you, I'm glad that this doesn't show up in my writing.

Nevertheless, like all here, I enjoyed being part of this interview and wish all the best to you in future endeavors. As Rich mentioned, some of us have taken to reading your blog on a pretty regular basis, if we weren't already checking it out once in a while before. ;-)

That interview was cool and for the folks that wrote it- I've never heard of your mag before but I'll be checking it all out- so this gets you a new reader. But the coolest thing-- the Secret of Nimh pic. I mean it's all about the NIMH! I'm so glad to see it got some props. Don Bluth is the man.

Hey sorry to post again and sorry if this is too off topic but the BSA add in the mag has me crackin' up. It's not the same as the first time I saw an MS ad on /. but close- if any of you devshed folks are still around I just wanted to thank you for that bit of humor in my day. sorry.

Great interview! I especially liked the part where you talked about the facets of your life, how we only read about a small percentage of who you are.

The way you write about your life is so open and honest, it just doesn't occur to me that you hold anything back. I've noticed that this sort of editing is hard to do with any subtlety... with most blogs or autobiographies, it's obvious when a person skips things over.

Y'know, I sometimes have to remind myself that you're *that* Wil Wheaton, that you're an actor and not just this cool guy with a nifty blog.

I've talked about your website to co-workers a long time ago right about the time you got the soapbox, most of whom are not regular internet users. They don't play video games and some of them actually still use ANTENNA's to get t.v. reception in a bid to beat the cable company at their own game... I say go ahead more bandwidth for me.

reeling myself back in to what I was going to tell you. Despite all the recent happenings in your life - I've sort of become only the occasional reader myself so I know I haven't mentioned you in a while.

At least twice a month someone mentions you, because they think they saw you on T.V. or somewhere. So they are looking out for you, and that's got to be neat.

Awesome interview, Wil. Of course, anything that features a slam at Shatner makes me smile... And how did I not know that you were the voice of Martin in NIMH? One of the my all-time fave cartoons--I even broke down and bought it on DVD.

Anyway, it was, like, a great read. :)

Very neat interview--very genuine. I agree, I think the photo layout was cool. I think it's awesome that they used the pic with you and Goofy.

I wouldn't worry about the "like" speech tic. It only shows up a couple of times in the interview. And it doesn't mark you as someone from the Southern California or anywhere else; that's pretty common all across the country.

Love the books--rock on!

I haven't had a chance to read the whole interview yet (I'm too busy), but it looks like the best one I've read with you. It's both interesting and you come off as being open. I can relate to some of the regret and angst you express, but of course my circumstances are entirely different.

Great interview. It was a nice read while I was at work. I just had a very stressful day of waiting to ask my boss for a raise. I finally went in and did it and he said he'd have to think about it and to come back in a month! (There's a much longer story to this, but I won't bore you.)The point is, when I came back out to my desk and checked your site I was very happy to see that you had updated it so that I had something to read and cheer me up. So, even though it's not for me, thanks!

I had a witty comment about your using the f-bomb. I had a comment about your being a bard, and one about wesley. They all sucked. How is it you manage to write stuff?

I've had a soft spot for you-the-actor for longer than you'd probably like to know, as a result of ST:TNG and other things, but I am quite impressed by you-the-writer, and I look forward to continuing to read your blog and your books. Wesley so does NOT have a 25 AC! I'm sorry but I'm just not buying it. Assuming he's attacked by a Klingon warrior (Fighter) with +1 BAB per level, the Klingon would need to be 6th Level (+6 BAB) on a roll of 19 to hit him with a regular weapon (20 always hits, 1 always misses). Just not right. ;)

18 INT? Definitely. High wisdom? Not sure about that one. His character was all about learning and growing. Sure he had the book smarts but not the life smarts.

Loved the interview. I especially loved this line - "And with the exception of George (Takei), they were all really unhappy" - because I think it is very true. At the last Expo here in T-town, it only took about an hour to get autographs from Nimoy and Shatner because we weren't allowed to speak to them. However, the next day with George Takei, it took almost 3 hours to get to the front of the line, because George took such obvious pleasure in greeting everybody that came through. There's a lesson there, I think.

I recently watched the Season 2 DVDs so I guess I was stuck in the "Guinan, tell me about girls" version of Wesley.

Now I'm really done. I swear. :) (Ok, well, maybe there's a 4d20+12 percent chance I'm done.)

That was an awesome, awesome interview! I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. :) Just one nitpick, though. It's Nichelle, not Michelle (hey! SOMEBODY's gotta confess to being a Trekkie Geek!). *grin* I'm sure that's just a typo, not a mispronounciation on your part, Wil, but I just thought I'd point it out, in case it's something easily corrected by the editors over there. ;)

Hey Wil! The coolest thing about the interview was realizing that when you mentioned the cigars, the poker game, Hooters, I knew just what you were talking about because you'd already told me. It was made even more surreal (for me at least) as I read it after I watched VH1's "I Love the 80s" 1986 - which showed Stand By My clips. One of my favorite movies.
