Of course, it will also include fixes to the dialogue so that there will be references to the first Enterprise (I enjoyed the last two episodes, btw ... maybe the series is hitting its stride finally). Posted by: synchronicity at April 22, 2004 11:40 AMShatner had a stunt double? Did his toupee have one too? I'm so disappointed - now I'm wondering if he really jumped out of a plane for that paintball tournament or if he had someone else do that for him too... /so want to see the episode where Spock had a third ear. How does THAT happen? Posted by: Tracy at April 22, 2004 11:42 AMwow your right that is a random. Heck i didn't even they had "service packs" for dvds and tv shows and all. LOL oh well its all good in the hood. Later Days. Posted by: Atomsk at April 22, 2004 11:44 AMOK, maybe I should have read the article first... I'm incredibly gullible that way. =) Dood! You totally have to write a hack for the TNG patch so you get more than just some kisses from Ashley Judd... if you know what I mean. ::wink wink nudge nudge:: Clay Posted by: Clay at April 22, 2004 11:46 AMOf course, it will also include fixes to the dialogue so that there will be references to the first Enterprise... That kind of mentality lead to Greedo shooting first. Posted by: Robert W. Leu at April 22, 2004 11:47 AMDo you think they can do a service pack to Star Trek: TNG? Perhaps the service pack can remove Berman.. BERMAN YOU BASTARD!!! Jason Posted by: Jason Thomas at April 22, 2004 12:12 PM"That kind of mentality lead to Greedo shooting first." As usual I had a problem with this. I forgot to de-install StarTrek Update and it crashed my Television set. Posted by: Geoff at April 22, 2004 12:14 PMHahha that's some great stuff. I love this little tid bit "In related news, Miramax announced they would be releasing Kill Bill, Vol 1.0.1 in July." Posted by: Xanie at April 22, 2004 12:42 PMHar! Hella funny. Wil, have you submitted this to Slashdot? Posted by: Craig Steffen at April 22, 2004 01:05 PMAll I know is that the TNG service pack better remove those guys in skirts from the pilot. That still gives me nightmares. Posted by: Sean O'Hara at April 22, 2004 01:36 PMGreat article! In a sidebar, it included a link to your answers to "11 questions" back in 2001(?). Hey...did you ever learn Linux? >:-) Pixue Posted by: Pixie at April 22, 2004 01:43 PMGee, you keep mentioning this site Wil, and I never go, but the article was so funny that I click around a little bit and found this other article... http://bbspot.com/News/2003/02/episode3.html which has the following (I think) title, "Man fears Episode III may ruin his childhood." I laughed so hard my co-workers thought I was insane (and they may not be that wrong). bbspot is now part of my favorites...right next to WWDN Posted by: Kate at April 22, 2004 01:59 PMOh wow! That was hilarious. I almost did it, I almost spit coffee all over the monitor and keyboard. I should have listened to the warning. Seems like today is turning out to be some kind of a good day. I never really thought I would ever have one of those. =P Actually, Kirk is the one with three ears. He has a left one, a right one, and a final front ear. Worst... Pun... Ever! Oh and Wil, what's with the word "finsish" there? I think you may have finished a few drinks your self... ;) Posted by: mraymer at April 22, 2004 02:48 PMNo mention of the biggest glaring mistake ever? The whole klingon thing. I mean c'mon. Although it made for the best episode of DS9 when everyone gets inserted into the churbles episode. Posted by: Steve at April 22, 2004 02:58 PMHoo Hoo Ha Ha! 63.171.239.229 Posted by: Flash Thompson at April 22, 2004 04:26 PMwhy did Star Trek never become a religion...? Posted by: pilch at April 22, 2004 05:22 PM"Why did Star Trek never become a religion...?" It IS a religion. I attend daily services on Spike TV. Suggestions for correcting errors on The Next Generation: Episode 43: Samaritan Snare-- BTW, Spike TV episodes of ST:TNG is nearing the end of season 7 . Season 1 starring none other than the fabulous WIL WHEATON will begin in a couple of weeks--mark your calendars. Freeman :) Posted by: Freeman in Louisiana at April 22, 2004 06:19 PMWil, this article was hysterical. I'm sure lots of the hard-core, conference-going trekkies are ready to pre-buy those DVD's. :) Posted by: DarthPedro at April 22, 2004 06:42 PMIt's good to hear Spike will soon be showing Wesley episodes again (though I have to say, shamefully, that I do enjoy some of the later ones, too). I think if I could fix any of the TNG shows, it would be the one (of course I can't remember the name of the episode) where people start hallucinating that they are at Utopia Planetia and want to jump to their deaths, and that one guy does...then, Troi interviews his fiance, and all she can say is "It's just not like (so and so) to take his own life". Ha. That is a howler of a bad line - How could it be like anyone to take their own life? They could only do it once, right? Anyway, that was my two cents worth (well, five cents U.S.). Posted by: Deborah at April 22, 2004 08:07 PMI believe that it is near sacrilegious to go back and make “corrections” to any work of art, Star Trek the First Incarnation not withstanding. I have yet to read the article and I admit that – at first – I was taking the bait. Like Tracy there earlier on in the comments. (Good thing for me I at least read the comments before opening my big mouth) With the leaps and bounds of technology these days, it would not surprise me if there was someone in Paramount that would have cooked up something like this. Thank goodness they have not. I like the original series as it is, with all of its continuity errors. If I had to make a choice, however, I would think I would have them release a digitally enhanced version of the series that would compensate for Bill’s weight fluctuations. I am off to read this wonderful piece of fiction and I will enjoy it. Thanks That was hilarious! I loved the "Star Trek Convention Pundit Blasted for Controversial Theory" story as well. Great stuff! Posted by: Nadia at April 23, 2004 06:55 AMI hate this idea. Part of the fun is taking the old screwed-up lore and working with it. Like, about those Klingon ridges and Cochran looking so different. And i love the stunt doubles! And were't the wardrobe malfunctions just the best? Corny, tacky, classic Trek. YAY! *A Posted by: Ana at April 23, 2004 12:29 PMThat was a joke. That was a joke? That was a joke. HA HA HA "However, the release has left some fans unimpressed. "This service pack fixes several errors, but also creates some. Like in 'The Enemy Within' they fix the problem with Kirk's phaser switching between a Type 1 and a Type 2 phaser, but they give Kirk a mustache," said Devin Halibut of Star Trek fan club #264. "I have to say I like the goofs in the original series better than the ones introduced by the service packs." Posted by: Ana at April 23, 2004 12:33 PMCurse you, Wil Wheaton. I don't have time to read Brian's blog, your blog and participate in the soapbox... Hey, this looks interesting... Posted by: loretta652 at April 23, 2004 11:05 PMWil, FG Posted by: Fabian at April 24, 2004 09:47 PMWil, I just won an auction on ebay of a signed photo of you (Wesley). I paid $15.50 for the winning bid and it was worth every penny. The autograph was guaranteed by Slanted Fedora Convention. Anyway, I'm thrilled to have won the picture.
