« as time goes by . . . | Main | a rush and a push » November 06, 2004throw the goatsA few weeks ago, the evil geniuses at goats.com started a story called "a dish best served delicious (or, invoking godwins law)". In the story, I play an important part in the untimely death of the Pork-o-tron 5000. The story is related by Toothgnip and I make my first appearance here. The whole story arc is really fantastic, and it's worth your time to start at the beginning and read it all the way through . . . in fact, it's the perfect way to spend some time on a Saturday afternoon. So grab yourself a beer, or a scotch, or a cup of tea, or a hooker, and check it out. Comments
Verycool! Posted by: Lis at November 6, 2004 02:45 PMMust be awesome to be semi-immortalised in a comic strip like that! Luv the tee, too! Hee hee, that was funny. First a movie star, then a TV star, then a writer...and a now comic strip star. :) You just do it all, don't ya, Wil? Posted by: ellymae58 at November 6, 2004 02:55 PMLOL - I'm going to have to bookmark that site - hilarious! Posted by: Angie at November 6, 2004 03:10 PMFirst the world of blogs, now the world of web comics. What's next? ;) Very very cool. ;) Funny site, too. Ah, more webcomics in my favorites bar. Yay! Posted by: angie k at November 6, 2004 03:55 PMCool comic wil!! :) *claps* You're just making your mark EVERYWHERE! Gotta love you, Wil! Posted by: Melissa at November 6, 2004 04:33 PMYo! My friend Anna laughed her ass off when she saw Jerry O'Connell hanging out behind you in the second frame. Sadly enough, her explaination shed no light on how hard she snorted, so perhaps you'll understand. Then she went on a tirade of "Your Mama" jokes until we were both rolling on the floor with said scotch comin' out our noses... Too bad the hooker wasn't here to clean it up. Lol, I just added you to my rss feed. I like the entry "morning bell". That was such a touching read. Posted by: April at November 6, 2004 05:37 PMWil, I loved the strip of you with the Traveller. They wanted $30 for the strip signed by the artist. If it had been signed by you I would have bought it. Freeman :) Posted by: Freeman in Louisiana at November 6, 2004 06:24 PMWhile living on Oahu in the late 80's and 90's we learned that Wil would be doing a Saturday morning radio show w/Larry and Price. We quickly made reservations so our young (10 - 12 year old) son Jeffrey could see one of his idols. After breakfast and waiting for the talk radio show to begin, I went to the bathroom. Standing right in the doorway of the bathroom was some "kid" I didn't recognize...even after asking politely for this punk to move, he acted as though he were royalty and I was a mere peasant who didn't have the right to speak to him...finally, the jerk moves so I can get by. Watching the live show I was shocked to see that the punk in front of the door was "Mr Wheaton". After the show was over my son and his friend approached Mr. Wheaton for a handshake and hopefully an autograph. The same rude punk that showed himself in the doorway of the bathroom, reared his ugly head one more time, pushing the young boys out of his way telling them to "move". The youngsters were crushed. Reading some of the stories over the years I realize that I'm not the first to complain about your uppity assed attitude. I'm no crazed stalker who's been looking for you these past 15 or more years...I came across this web page w/your stories on it and thought I'd get this off my chest. I disagree w/your political views, but some of these stories are interesting. Take care. Posted by: Danny Phenix at November 6, 2004 07:15 PMDanny Phenix: Please accept my sincere apologies, and extend them to Jeffery. In the late 80s / early 90s, I was an incredibly unhappy and arrogant jackass, and you're not the only person who was unfortunate enough to encounter me during those years. I don't know what else to say. I hope you'll accept my apology. Shame that there had to be that comment right up there, but shiat happens. People change, hopefully for the better. I think you have. Anyway... I just wanted to know...where did that gun come from?? Rick Posted by: Rick at November 6, 2004 11:11 PMHow about a cup of tea AND a hooker? Posted by: Kimberly at November 6, 2004 11:28 PMI find myself wondering if williamfuckingshatner is still the same jerk he was we you went to meet him. His All Bran commercial cracks me up. And I'm enjoying his performance as Denny Crane on Boston Legal. I hope he's grown as much as Uncle Willy. I just can't get my head around reading a comic strip on the computer. Maybe if each frame was full screen, so I could look at it more leisurely, from a distance. I just like it on paper i guess. Posted by: anc at November 7, 2004 07:10 AMThat was freakin' hilarious! I love it, "is this what Wesley would do? Is this what Gordie LaChance would do?" I may now have to favorite that site and become addicted...you're not good for my health, Wheaton. Posted by: Beth at November 7, 2004 07:24 AMSoooo...did you ever figure out that whole space/time continuum thingy? ;-P Posted by: Froonium at November 7, 2004 08:29 AMNicely done comic strip. :) Funny toon. Nice response to a decade's long grudge. We all grow and change: you are no longer the angsty teen you were back then. We are defined by so much more than just what we do/have done. Perhaps someday soon there will be a toon which does not have to mention SBM, ST, or blogging even. Until then: the t-shirt rawks! Can I have my now? Posted by: David at November 7, 2004 09:55 AM \m/ \m/ Wil, I had to wipe a tear from my eye when I read your apology to Danny. It's not often we encounter someone who is so frank and honest. God bless. Freeman :) Posted by: Freeman in Louisiana at November 7, 2004 12:29 PMWil, It's me again; sorry. I just noticed I had marked on my calendar "Wil Wheaton's anniversary." Freeman :) Posted by: Freeman in Louisiana at November 7, 2004 02:54 PMDear Wil, I enjoy reading your blog. I hope you continue your website for many years to come. Every few months, a Big Apple Comic Book convention is held in New York City. Celebrity guest stars take part. This past September Denise Crosby was there, the first actor I have seen participate from the cast of TNG. I had a lot of fun meeting her and watching Trekkies 2. I wondered if you would ever come out to do this particular convention. I have already sent the convention staff an email expressing how nice it would be to see you there one day. Raisa So, are you really a method actor? I can tell I'm going to have to look that strip over...if it's as good as it looks at first glance, it'll go on my daily comics list right next to Schlock Mercenary. Posted by: Jay Maynard at November 7, 2004 04:50 PMI've been reading Goats for quite a few years now. Didn't your name pop up in it a year ago too? I've been so loyal of a reader, I even purchased and religiously wore (last week) a Republicans for Voldemort t-shirt. aw yeah! ...and about that angsty punk thing... you're right. we're all that way at that age, and you were in just the right position for that to be magnified. At least you know it and you're over it! It's the best thing when angsty punks can realized they're jerks and get over themselves. way to go! Posted by: Nicci at November 8, 2004 10:12 AMDamn you Wil. Now I have to read the whole damn strip from the beginning.. As if I didn't have have enough to do with my life... Posted by: parvane at November 8, 2004 03:52 PMCompletely unrelated to anything, The first teaser trailer for Revenge of the Sith is available on starwars.com Posted by: SandieK at November 8, 2004 04:06 PMwww.whatthehellwasthat.com? OT, Wil, I don't know how to send you a PM anymore. I just want to say how excited I was to see in my inbox just now a press release about your appearance at Macworld in Jan. A Google search brought another one. http://home.businesswire.com/portal/site/google/index.jsp?ndmViewId=news_view&newsId=20041109005168&newsLang=en http://www.macworld.com/news/2004/11/09/wheaton/index.php
Maybe you can go to a bookstore on your visit so non-Mac people would have a reason to drive 6 hours to see you. In Jan. With the possiblility of snow. Or maybe you can do a booksigning a little closer to me? Like NY? Or Philly? Please? Posted by: watcher652 at November 9, 2004 06:53 AMWil -- someone beat me to it, but I saw this a.m. on Yahoo! news that you'll be a guest speaker at the MacWorld fiesta! way to go! Posted by: Margaret at November 9, 2004 08:36 AMThat was a pretty classy apology, I must say. I hope he read it and appreciated it. Posted by: Dan at November 9, 2004 08:41 AM"The Incredibles" is a great example of how letting creative rule the roost can be indeed, very successful. I'm writing this under the condition of being laid off from a high creative position; the decision being made to keep a bunch of useless managers instead. It brought me a unique perspective; that is, that there is some hope after all, for a focus on creativity, rather than just chasing dollars.
... Posted by: iomatic at November 9, 2004 09:10 AMI am looking forward to seeing the movie. I can not analyze as well as some of the people on here, but I know what movies I like. Posted by: Jeremy at November 9, 2004 11:33 AMOh my god! Wil, just found out that you're going to be a speaker at January's Macworld Expo!!! Man, do I wish I was actually an IT person so I could justify going out there on travel. As it is, rocket scientists can't usually the expense to attend Mac functions. Darnit. And you're talk probably isn't going to be broadcast via satellite like Job's keynotes usually are. I hope you at least blog about it. Hey, might you be able to meet the man himself? Oh, this is too much for me. Two of my heros in one place!!! Take care, Cool comic. I love the T-shirt "Rick Berman Sucks". Is that guy still screwing up the Star Trek franchise? Have fun at the Comedy Theater tomorrow. I so wish I could drive down there to see you. Remember if you can to put in a good word about retroCRUSH to Alison sometime during the show. We'd love to talk with her. Anyway...keep up the good work Mr. Wheaton. Posted by: Randy Waage at November 9, 2004 07:39 PMWhat a weird comic. And yet, I'm still laughing, and it's been at least 5 minutes now. That's really cool that you were in it.. any plans to show up in more? Posted by: Ashley at November 10, 2004 12:05 AMI've been reading your blog on and off for a while now. You're a brilliant writer! Multi-talented, huh? :) Have you ever considered doing NaNoWriMo? Basically, you write a novel in a month. I'd love to see what you'd come up with! The site for NaNo is at http://www.nanowrimo.org. No, I'm not affiliated with the site (well, except as one of the insane who take the challenge), just thought you'd do really well at it and it would be cool to see your NaNo in your blog. :) Posted by: Carla at November 10, 2004 01:58 AMEr, Wil, it's too bad you are such a nice guy these days, I know I'd pay like $50+ ($100?) for one actually signed by Uncle Willie. LOL. P.S. For no reason at all, if it could also p.p.s If it instead showed Mr. Berman in a compromising position with the Pork-o-tron 3000 \m/ I came here because Liberal Avenger recommended you for the politics, and then the first comments thread that was political that I saw was locked up. So I am off-topic and talking about it here. Bush stole that election,a nd don't any one of you forget it. There is an incredible amount of evidence coming out, including the fact that Cuyahoga County, Ohio alone counted 93,000 more votes than there are registered voters in the county. Exit polls, which always show an approximate 0.1% margin of error, showed a 5% margin of error in places that were expected to go more heavily towards Kerry. Democratic precincts in Florida that had upwards of 70% registered Democrats were only marginally favoring Kerry, flying in the face of the voting pattern of the entire country. So don't despair entirely of what the country is like now or what your fellow citizens are like these days. I am disturbed by the number of people who did wind up voting for Bush, but then we may never know what that number really was. The massive turnout indicates that it was a fraudulent electiona nd possibly, in truth, a Kerry landslide. Posted by: G. D. Frogsdong at November 10, 2004 12:36 PMSounds like sour grapes to me, dawg. Posted by: Erm at November 10, 2004 05:58 PMLove your blog - you really seem like an average Joe (who is extremely successful!) and a genuine guy. I'll be back. (Good story re: this post, too!) Posted by: Insta Marv at November 11, 2004 06:39 AMHello Wil :) I see you are in the credits on EQ2 for voices. I was wondering which ones you might have done? Posted by: John at November 11, 2004 06:42 AMA& W 2 good+ 2 be= 4 gotten, happy belated anniversary and many more:-)!!!!!!!!!!!!! God bless, may God bless you and keep you and may his face shine upon you and be joyous all the days of your lives. Posted by: Nathalie Marroquin at November 11, 2004 06:57 AMI came here to give a shout out to Wil being in GTA San Andreas, that was cool by the way, but instead feel I would be remiss in not responding to the resounding number of asinine comments and thoughts shared about the recent election. Bush did NOT STEAL the election. Absurd comments like that and thinking so depressingly jaded and uneducated is the reason President Bush's re-election was genuine cause to celebrate. Because it means most people still have the common sense to see whats going on around them. People want a President who will make the tough choices whether its popular or not, A President who will recognize that there are definte threats to America and take action. A President that knows that homosexuality, no matter how long its been around is a sickness, and same sex marriage is wrong. Most importantly you need a leader, which George Bush most certainly is. I'll bet 90% of you kids voted for Kerry because Rolling Stone told you so or because Jennifer Aniston wore his button. That is the real tragedy. Take a look around you, see the world and see whats going on, and make decisions for yourselves, don't let MTV tell you what to believe. People like Mr. Neal have no idea what they're talking about and even worse the world around them. PFC Brian Allen Posted by: Brian at November 11, 2004 12:18 PMunfortunately, people who are unable to seperate personal prejudices and politics and actually believe "homosexuality is a sickness" are the reason bush won the election. Mr Allen, if you truly believe homosexuality is a sickness then perhaps you should begin campaigning for 2008 proposals to ban cancer patients from getting married as well. Posted by: carrie at November 11, 2004 02:31 PMPFC Brian Allen, In regards to your comment about homosexuality being a sickness, you should be know that love has often been compared to and considered a sickness. In that case, homosexuality is just as much as a disease as heterosexuality. Regarding the war, yes, there were threats to America. They came from Osama Bin Laden and not Saddam Hussein. During the Presidential debates, President Bush talked about how we were all in danger and needed to have him to protect the country. If you know your history, you will note that during the Nurenberg Trials when Goering was placed on the stand and asked why the German people accepted the Nazi government as their leaders, he responded that it was the result of the government instilling fear into them. I think Bush won because he scared the majority into it, not because he is the better leader.
All I want to know is... where's Wil? This entry was posted on November 6th. As I post this comment, it's the 12th. That's six days, and there's been no warning of taking time off or having appearances or auditions to go to. I hope everything's okay... Posted by: kelli217 at November 12, 2004 08:47 AMAs far as the previous comment goes...I have been a little curious about this as well. Maybe he has just been really busy? But in all honesty, what geek cant find the time for their computer? What geek could stay away from the computer for almost a week? Posted by: Grace at November 12, 2004 09:29 AMYeah, where's Wil? It's been like waking up christmas morning to no presents the last week.
