« 0011001100110011 | Main | untitled post number 47 » August 02, 2005untitled post number 19I celebrated my birthday by spending four days with my family, completely unwired. If you get a chance to spend four unwired days in a row, I highly recommend it. If you can spend those four days with people you love, I double-plus don't not recommend it. Thank you to everyone who sent birthday wishes via e-mail or comments. So far, year 33 is looking good. Comments
Happy Belated B-day. I'm glad your 33'rd is looking good -- here's to a happy 1/3 coming up. As far as 4 days unplugged? It's hard to do at first, but gets easier as the days go by. And I'll be doing the same thing starting thursday -- Motorcycle trip from Anchorage up to Mt. McKinley and Denali park. Whee! So, wil, how do I send you a congratulatory beer? Does unwired mean no Treo? I don't think I could handle that. Glad you had a good birthday. :) Posted by: alan at August 2, 2005 12:00 PM
Here's hoping those 4 days set up a year to follow that's also filled with fun, family, and relaxation. Also some achievement, prosperity, and all the other good things you deserve. Posted by: maycomb at August 2, 2005 12:14 PM
Well, 43 won't be bad either. I have already been there. Posted by: peanut at August 2, 2005 12:25 PM
Wil, I'm 33. It ain't ALL that hot. :) But Happy Birthday anyway Posted by: buntz at August 2, 2005 01:06 PM
Happy birthday :) Posted by: mike3k at August 2, 2005 01:20 PM
Glad you had a great birthday! I want to point out, though, that when you turned 33 you actually began your 34th year, your first year being from birth to first birthday, and so on. (Am I being too nitpicky?) That said, I hope your 34th year is better than any of the 33 that have come before. It sounds like you are off to good start, anyway. Those 4 days you were 'unwired'... how long did it take you to catch up? Posted by: Highway at August 2, 2005 03:26 PM
*guffaw* I was wondering who would point out the 34th year thing. at August 2, 2005 03:26 PM
You double plus don't not recommend it? But, do you pinky swear on that? ;) Here's hoping your year continues in an upward fashion! Posted by: jadeddo at August 2, 2005 03:42 PM
Wil's a computer geek, so obviously the year between his birth and his first birthday was his zeroth year, not his first. Posted by: Andrew at August 2, 2005 03:43 PM
I recently seen a Febreze commercial where you can use the product for laundry care. Somehow the young boy who was sniffing the laundry basket and putting a pair of freshly laundered dry Boxers over his head reminded me of you. Of course, if you ran around your backyard with your boxers on your head shouting "It's My Birthday! It's My Birthday!", you would tend to run into things like patio furniture, barbeque, side of house... I'm glad you had a great time with family. You should do that as often as you can! - Dusty Posted by: DustyTymes at August 2, 2005 04:31 PM
Glad you had a good few days with the family. And I second the WAY overdue on the AudBlog ;) The posts are always well worth the wait though. Posted by: Jules at August 2, 2005 05:19 PM
Happy Birthday According to WIREDs calendar, this week is PC-Turn off week. (www.pcturnoff.org) Posted by: GURT at August 2, 2005 06:56 PM
Will... Haven't seen the good side of 33 for a few years, so I read your post with some envy. Really do enjoy this blog, and wish you many happy birthdays to come. Posted by: BZTV at August 2, 2005 09:13 PM
You know when you're a kid, and it feels like everyone on tv is older than you are? So you compare yourself to kids like Gary Coleman, Kim Fields and Tina Yothers wondering if they might be your age, because if by some chance they are, it seems to elevate your own celebrity status. "I'm the same age as that girl on Family Ties!" And it always seemed like people who were older were somehow more important. We just couldn't wait to grow up so we could be as important as they were. Well, it turns out that when I used to watch you on TNG, and wonder, "Hmm...I wonder how old Wil is...maybe he's my age. He's probably my age. How cool would that be?" at August 2, 2005 11:01 PM
Ha, I'm lucky if I get one day, let alone four. LoL. Now, hopefully, you can do that every year. AudBlog regards: Post whenever you want to...although we do miss 'em! Posted by: Love's Epitome at August 3, 2005 04:20 AM
So, you want me to spend 4 days unwired? How about I use wireless on my laptop...does that count? :-) Posted by: pyrofenix at August 3, 2005 07:21 AM
Unwired? By day two I would be sitting in the corner, twitching, drooling and babbling like an idiot.. Now the on-call cell phone I could CERTAINLY do without for 4 days. No Prob!! Posted by: Pookie at August 3, 2005 05:57 PM
"Double-plus don't not recommend it"? Reaches over and stops Orwell from spinning. Happy Birthday Wil! Posted by: ChaosInOrder at August 3, 2005 07:37 PM
Happy birthday Wil. I turned 40 on July 22nd, and only just discovered I am depressed about it. Sigh. I think 33 was good. Too bad the memory is failing. Posted by: adaher at August 3, 2005 08:33 PM
Just had my 41st on July 26 (exact age as Sandra Bullock). Spent this last weekend, as always, at the Gilroy Garlic Festival with family and friends followed by a tour of Gold Country and Yosemite. Had to take the Treo with me, though. at August 4, 2005 12:42 AM
Is late better than never? I only just decided to register, so posting sooner wasn't really an option. My own birthday was the 31st; happy really belated. As for de-wiring, I will have to when we (spouse, friends and I) rent a houseboat for a long weekend later this month; the longstanding rule for this formerly annual event is that technology is banned, unless it only plays music or is already on the boat. Not my choice at all! I worry about my babies when I'm so far away. The house could burn down, or someone could break in...our insurance probably isn't enough to replace all the machines. Want to know a little secret? The TabletPC probably will go, anyway; I just won't turn it on. Problem is, the last time I smuggled a computer on board, a dock employee smashed us into the dock...and the gas pump...while our grill was heating up in preparation for cooking dinner. Fortunately, the worst that happened was that the boat looked less aesthetically pleasing and we were inundated by the smell of gas fumes (thank goodness for automatic shut-off valves!). Some swear it wouldn't have happened if the laptop hadn't been on board. Posted by: minimage at August 6, 2005 09:25 PM
Happy belated B-day Wil! Hope it was great. Just think, 33 doesn't mean your "older" it just means your wiser. :P Posted by: Presea at August 8, 2005 03:56 PM
Happy 33rd Wil!
